Lots of people think that once they’ve filed for bankruptcy they will be unable to ever get a loan again, and ultimately they are unable to do anything financial ever again. This isn’t always true, there are<!–always ways to improve your financial standing, and there are also ways to repair your damaged credit rating.
In fact one of the best ways to improve your credit rating is to refinance your home mortgage, this–>will help to improve your credit history in a number of different ways.
Hi Erica,
I’ve included a link to Lending Tree so you can start basic research for mortgage information and criteria. With your bankruptcy you may have to apply for an FHA mortgage or agree to other concessions.
Your best bet is to make living arrangements first, then worry about paying back your in-laws. If they offered to take you in, they should understand your financial situation.
You will not be able to get new credit until the bankruptcy is discharged.
If you get new loans on credit after filing, your entire bankruptcy case can be considered intent to defraud and dismissed. You then cannot file a new bankruptcy case for another 7 years and you get no current relief.
Yes, you can a another mortgage but for first 2 years, it is easiest to have good payment history on a rental instead. I once sold to a family that bought a home just six months after a discharged bankruptcy, so yes everything is possible.
Bankruptcy is the answer and it will be immediate relief.
We had to do it and we are so thankful.
We had a new credit card in 6 months, and we have not had any trouble getting loans or anything after the 1st year.
So don’t believe it. We did not loose our home or cars, we reaffirmed those and all credit cards, payday loans and everything medical bills etc. all gone.

You need to deal with the heart of the issue. You and your husband have deep issues when it comes to money and probably other stuff.
I HIGHLY recommend a 10 to 12 week group Bible study from one of these two organizations:

My wife and I did Crown and got straightened out. Incredible stuff. Praise God! Finally after a long haul, completely debt free!
get use to moms cooking you only have 9.5 years of living in hell — hope the good life was worth it!!!
